Radio Jove Receivers

We have two NASA Radio Jove receiver kits built, each connected to a half-wavelength dipole antenna mounted on the roof of the cabin. We've decided though that it's best to go with both dipoles connected to the same receiver for better sensitivity and some directionality (which should reduce interference) so currently we only have one in operation.

We are collaborating with the Astronomical Society of Victoria Radio Astronomy Section on this project as they have already such a system up and running.

Audio streaming

We stream the audio from our Radio Jove to the outside world as a public service, you can listen to it at your leisure using the control below.

Data collection and graphs

The ASV's Python code records our receivers (currently uncalibrated) antenna temperature 10 times a second on a small PC at MBO and that is then synchronised out to this web server every 5 minutes where graphs are generated via a script written by RAG just afterwards.
